The Kama Sutra, is an ancient Indian text widely considered to be the standard work on human sexual behavior in Sanskrit literature written by the Indian scholar Vatsyayana. A portion of the work consists of practical advice on sex. Kāma means sensual or sexual pleasure, and sūtra are the guidlines of yoga, the word itself means thread in Sanskrit. The Kama Sutra is the oldest and most notable of a group of texts known generically as Kama Shastra). Traditionally, the first transmission of Kama Shastra or "Discipline of Kama" is attributed to Nandi the sacred bull, Shiva's doorkeeper, who was moved to sacred utterance by overhearing the lovemaking of the god and his wife Parvati and later recorded his utterances for the benefit of mankind.

The Kamasutra By Vatsyayana The Kama Sutra is an ancient Indian Hindu text widely considered to be the standard work on human sexual behavior in Sanskrit literature written by Vātsyāyana. A portion of the work consists of practical advice on sexual intercourse. It is largely in prose, with many inserted anustubh poetry verses. "Kāma" which is one of the four goals of Hindu life, means desire including sexual desire the latter being the subject of the textbook, and "sūtra" literally means a thread or line that holds things together, and more metaphorically refers to an aphorism or a collection of such aphorisms in the form of a manual. Contrary to popular perception, especially in the western world, the Kama Sutra is not exclusively a sex manual; it presents itself as a guide to a virtuous and gracious living that discusses the nature of love, family life, and other aspects pertaining to pleasure-oriented faculties of human life.

This is a great eBook. This is the Summarized Version of the Original Book. We had added almost 48000 words in our long summary and about 7400 words in our short summary of the book. the brief description is written as follows: -Kamasutra is the oldest surviving Hindu text on erotic love. It is a sutra-genre text with terse aphoristic verses that have survived into the modern era with different bhasya (exposition and commentaries). The text is a mix of prose and anustubh-meter poetry verses. The text acknowledges the Hindu concept of Purusharthas, and lists desire, sexuality, and emotional fulfillment as one of the proper goals of life. Its chapters discuss methods for courtship, training in the arts to be socially engaging, finding a partner, flirting, maintaining power in a married life, when and how to commit adultery, sexual positions, and other topics. The majority of the book is about the philosophy and theory of love, what triggers desire, what sustains it, and how and when it is good or bad. The text is one of many Indian texts on Kama Shastra. It is a much-translated work in Indian and non-Indian languages. The Kamasutra has influenced many secondary texts that followed after the 4th-century CE, as well as the Indian arts as exemplified by the pervasive presence Kama-related reliefs and sculpture in old Hindu temples. Of these, the Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh is a UNESCO world heritage site. Among the surviving temples in north India, one in Rajasthan sculpts all the major chapters and sexual positions to illustrate the Kamasutra. According to Wendy Doniger, the Kamasutra became "one of the most pirated books in English language" soon after it was published in 1883 by Richard Burton. This first European edition by Burton does not faithfully reflect much in the Kamasutra because he revised the collaborative translation by Bhagavanlal Indrajit and Shivaram Parashuram Bhide with Forster Arbuthnot to suit 19th-century Victorian tastes.Vatsyayana Mallanaga is its widely accepted author because his name is embedded in the colophon verse, but little is known about him. Vatsyayana states that he wrote the text after much meditation. In the preface, Vatsyayana acknowledges that he is distilling many ancient texts, but these have not survived. He cites the work of others he calls "teachers" and "scholars", and the longer texts by Auddalaki, Babhravya, Dattaka, Suvarnanabha, Ghotakamukha, Gonardiya, Gonikaputra, Charayana, and Kuchumara. Vatsyayana's Kamasutra is mentioned and some verses quoted in the Brihatsamhita of Varahamihira, as well as the poems of Kalidasa. This suggests he lived before the 5th-century CE. Human relationships, sex and emotional fulfillment are a significant part of the post-Vedic Sanskrit literature such as the major Hindu epics: the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. The ancient Indian view has been, states Johann Meyer, that love and sex are a delightful necessity. Though she is reserved and selective, "a woman stands in very great need of surata (amorous or sexual pleasure)", and "the woman has a far stronger erotic disposition, her delight in the sexual act is greater than a man's"

The Kama Sutra Annotated and Illustrated Book With Teacher Edition Book PDF/Epub Download

The Kama Sutra has seven books, and begins with a description of general principles. In the beginning, Brahma, the Lord of Beings, created men and women, and laid down rules for existence that dealt with dharma, artha, and kama. Dharma is the fulfillment of one's duty during one's life on earth, artha is the accumulation of material wealth, and kama refers to the pleasurable experience of the five senses. While many tend to discount the importance of kama, it is the goal of the Kama Sutra to guide those in the experience of sexual pleasure and the fulfillment of love. Dharma is more important than artha, and artha is more important than kama, and yet kama is often applied improperly, leading to an undue focus on it in relation to dharma and artha. The Kama Sutra says that kama should be studied not only by men, but also by women. Indeed, women should have a full knowledge of the arts and sciences, and especially those arts that are complimentary to the Kama Sutra. A full list of arts suitable for women are listed, including intellectual pastimes, useful athletics, magic, sorcery, and aphrodisiacs.Men are divided into three classes, depending on the size of their lingam (or phallus): hare, bull, or horse. Women, meanwhile, are divided into categories based on the size of their yoni (or genitalia): deer, mare, or elephant. In order to produce an equal union, the size of a man's lingam should match that of his partner's yoni. Once a union is equal, a man and woman can begin practicing the Chatus-Shasti, or the 64 forms of sexual union, in an effort to achieve true fulfillment of pleasure. The first position is the Alinganam, or the embrace - and the final position is Adhoratam, or anal congress. The author says that which of the Chatus-Shasti is performed depends on "the liking of each individual, the generation of love, friendship, and the respect accorded to the woman."

One of the earliest texts on sexuality and sexual behavior, the Kama Sutra was written in Sanskrit by the Hindu philosopher Vatsyayana between 400 BCE and 200 CE, and explores concept of kama, or sexual pleasure. According to the Hindu religion, kama is one of the four main goals of life, along with dharma (righteousness), artha (worldy and material well-being), and moksha (liberation). Although the Kama Sutra provides practical advice on sex, it is not simply a sexual handbook, but is a philosophical guide to love and family intended to help its readers create a more balanced, harmonious and pleasure-filled life. Redesign your sex life with this tongue-in-cheek architecture and design-themed take on the Kama Sutra. 'Truss Me', 'Eames it in' and 'Get an Eiffel' are just some of the sexual positions listed in this architecture- and design-themed take on the Kama Sutra, the ancient Indian Hindu guide to love and sex. Le Corbusier coined the phrase 'machines for living' in his book, Towards an Architecture in 1923. Sex plays a large role in society and everyday life. So why is it so often overlooked when an architect designs a building? Miguel Bolivar's tongue-incheek sex manual uses witty descriptions and annotated scale drawings to demonstrate various sexual positions, all inspired by iconic buildings and often incorporating surprising uses for designer furniture. The Archisutra builds on the work of Vitruvius, da Vinci and Le Corbusier in pushing the idea that buildings should be designed around human life.
