Book Summary :

The ultimate guide to Project Blue Book by one of the lead astronomers for the US Air Force program to investigate UFO sightings—and featured in History Channel’s Project Blue Book. Originally released in 1977, this new edition by the world's foremost authority on UFOs distills 12,000 sightings and 140,000 pages of Project Blue Book evidence into a coherent explanation. A US Air Force–sponsored UFO-basher for years, Hynek had completely changed his tune by the late 1960s. Whether you believe in little green men or an official government cover-up policy, The Hynek UFO Report is required reading. Have UFOs really been reported by every nation across the globe? Can all the eyewitness reports simply be fantasy? Are we victims of mass hallucination or just plain lies? Have close encounters actually occurred? Is the government concealing deep secrets at a hidden location? The Hynek UFO Report is rational, logical, and realistic. It is for anyone interested in UFOs, the possibility of extraterrestrial life, and the role of the US government in hiding the truth from the public.

Book Summary :

A new edition of the blockbuster book that revealed the top-secret findings of the US government about UFOs. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, while publicly dismissing the existence of UFOs, the United States Air Force was engaged in a secret program for evaluating every report of unidentified flying objects. Under the code name, Project Blue Book, the Air Force analyzed over 13,000 incidents. The goal of this enterprise was threefold: To determine the cause for each UFO sighting, to assess the security threat for each incident, and to determine how the United States could obtain or create the technology used by UFOs. This book, based on secret files obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, includes accounts of seven of the most important USAF enquiries-- among them the story of the nights the White House was buzzed by UFOs, the mystery of the Lubbock Lights, the full story of Captain Mantell--Ufology's first martyr, and the startling conversion of the prominent astronomer, J. Alan Hynek from UFO skeptic to believer. This is startling and fascinating book that uncovers not only the anatomy of a government cover-up, but also provides stark and chilling evidence that we are not alone. It is all here, government documents, the testimony of scientists, the military, pilots and citizens all over the country who have witnessed UFOS.

Book Summary :

For the first time ever, a series of restored documents is available from the US Air Force's 22 year study of UFOs. The span covers the beginning of the project, which includes cases from June 1947 and prior. Anyone who has reviewed the pages of the US Air Force's Project Blue Book UFO study either at the US National Archives or via online digital scans might have noticed a common thread among them all, their lack of legibility. Cameron Pack, a UFO researcher from Virginia, has spent many months worth of effort transcribing the earliest cases from the government's UFO records into a clear and legible format. In his volume, Restored Project Blue Book UFO Files: June 1947 & Before, Pack gives the public a perspective of the records that no one has ever seen until now. The US Air Force officially studied the phenomenon of Unidentified Flying Objects from 1947 to 1969 under the name of Project Blue Book. Much of the study's records were retired to the US National Archives in 1975 and made available for public viewing on rolls of microfilm, while other additional microfilm files were preserved in private collections. The microfilming process has left many pages difficult to read and some sections literally impossible to decipher. A volume of restored Project Blue Book files has no doubt long been a wish for UFO historians. The Restored Project Blue Book UFO Files: June 1947 & Before is a unique and intriguing window to the time that is often referred to as the beginning of the modern UFO era. It is a solid foundation of research for those who are interested in the US Air Force's involvement with the UFO phenomenon. The volume also acts as a great companion piece to other works written on the subject. The US Air Force officially studied the phenomenon of Unidentified Flying Objects from 1947 to 1969. The study was known as Project Blue Book. The files of the project were first available for public viewing from 1970 to 1975 at Maxwell Air Force Base. The records were maintained on rolls of microfilm. The witness names and other identifying details in the records were kept intact while at Maxwell Air Force Base. However, when the files were prepared for transfer to the US National Archives in 1975, the records were sanitized of all names, addresses and personal data. In 1998, a completely intact and uncensored copy of the Project Blue Book files was found in the US National Archives and purchased by the Fund for UFO Research. Additionally, some of the original US Air Force UFO Project Sign microfilms have been preserved within private collections. These microfilms are also uncensored. The US Air Force's processing of their Project Blue Book records onto microfilm in 1970 and 1975 has typically made those sets of the records harder to read. In some cases, words on one version or the other have become obliterated. The now-private collections of 1940s era US Air Force Project Sign microfilm typically have a better level of quality than the copies that were later prepared for public viewing at Maxwell Air Force Base and the US National Archives. However, even the 1940s records sometimes have legibility issues. This volume represents the combination of all these sources being utilized to compile a clear and legible presentation of the Project Blue Book UFO files. The collection includes sighting cases which date from June 1947 and prior. "Cameron Pack has produced a truly valuable tool for the casual reader as well as the serious Blue Book-era researcher. One can only hope that Cameron continues his work to provide many more volumes to come, giving all of us a complete and legible record of the US government's early involvement in the UFO mystery." - Robert & Susan Swiatek

Book Summary :

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Impeccably researched, this riveting journalistic investigation separates fact from fiction, and documents the existence of—and government reactions to—actual UFOs. “A treasure trove of insightful and eye-opening information.”—Michio Kaku, PH.D., bestselling author of Physics of the Future Leslie Kean, a veteran investigative reporter who has spent the past ten years studying the still-unexplained UFO phenomenon, reviewed hundreds of government documents, aviation reports, radar data, and case studies with corroborating physical evidence. She interviewed dozens of high-level officials and aviation witnesses from around the world. Among them, five Air Force generals and a host of high-level sources—including Fife Symington III, former governor of Arizona, and Nick Pope, former head of the British Defence Ministry’s UFO Investigative Unit—have written their own breathtaking, firsthand accounts about UFO encounters and investigations exclusively for this book. With the support of former White House chief of staff John Podesta, Kean lifts the veil on decades of U.S. government misinformation about this mysterious phenomenon and presents irrefutable evidence that unknown flying objects—metallic, luminous, and seemingly able to maneuver in ways that defy the laws of physics—actually exist. With a Foreword by John Podesta “The most important book on the phenomenon in a generation.”—Journal of Scientific Exploration “Written with penetrating depth and insight, the revelations in this book constitute a watershed event in lifting the taboo against rational discourse about this controversial subject.”—Harold E. Puthoff, PH.D., Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin “Kean presents the most accurate, most credible reports on UFOs you will ever find. She may not have the final smoking gun, but I smell the gunpowder.”—Miles O’Brien, science correspondent for PBS’s NewsHour

Book Summary :

From one of Canada’s finest writers comes a masterful novel about the clash of art and advertising, the cultish grip of celebrity and the intense connections that can form in times of crisis. An unidentified man storms a television studio where KiddieFame, a controversial children’s talent show wherein kids who are too talented are “killed off,” is being filmed. He is armed with an explosive device, and issues only a single demand: an interview with journalist Thom Pegg. It’s a strange request, everyone agrees. A disgraced former investigative journalist, caught fabricating sources, Pegg is down on his luck and working for a lowly tabloid. The demand surprises everyone – Pegg most of all, and he is reluctant to play a role. But pressure from federal authorities leaves little choice, and so it is that Thom Pegg finds himself the envy of all the high-level journalists on hand as he makes his way into the darkened studio to uncover the truth. Outside, as the hostage taking heads into its third day, enthralled and horrified onlookers watch the drama unfold through a constant stream of media speculation and rumours that race through the crowd. In the throes of this crisis two characters – one running from former glory and the other from corporate burnout – meet and instinctively connect. Eve is an Olympic gold medalist and much-loved local daughter who jogs the city’s streets at night and searches for her long-lost brother, Ali, in its shadowy corners. Rabbit is a secretive street artist who is just completing a massive project involving strange installations on the rooftops of hundreds of buildings throughout the city. Both carry the scars of their pasts, and seem to be searching for a way to become whole. It’s a fearful time, when people have serious doubts about the future and about each other, yet are compelled to come together to vent their anxiety and make themselves heard. Outside the studio, chaos reigns, and Eve and Rabbit must navigate police checkpoints as they skirt the unruly masses in pursuit of the truth of what happened to Ali. Inside the studio, however, it’s all about control, as Pegg listens to the hostage taker’s story and begins to realize the terrible, violent truth about what he has planned. When the crisis comes to a head, events collide and riots grip the streets. Prospects seem bleak as the tension of the hostage taking is unleashed upon the city. But when Rabbit’s secret installation is finally activated, people are shocked into seeing the power beauty still has in this world, and into recognizing the real possibility of hope. The Blue Light Project is a hard-hitting and emotionally wrought commentary on the forces that attract and repel us, and the faith that enables us to continue, even in our darkest hours.
