The Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius Book PDF/Epub Download
A reissue of a classic Christian text from the founder of the Jesuit Order. The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyla is the core work of religious formation for members of the Society of Jesus, the single largest religious order within the Roman Catholic Church. For four and a half centuries in many thousands of editions in all languages, The Exercises have embodied fundamental spiritual principles essential to authentic Christian living. The mystical insight informing Ignatius's own relationship with God—which he distilled in The Exercises—is that the divine love of God is providentially present in all the details of our existence. Here Ignatius shows how the faithful can be joined to God in all things, according to the Jesuit motto, Ad majorem Dei gloriam, "For the greater glory of God."

Jesus Teach Us to Pray Book PDF/Epub Download
"Teach us to Pray." The disciples’ cry to Jesus has never been more topical. In a fast-moving, hyperactive, technology-oriented world, more and more people are trying to find meaning in their lives and to develop a living relationship with the Lord in prayer. However, they often find themselves at a loss to discover reliable guides point to sure pathways to the art of prayer. In this book Fr. Jerome Bertram answers the plea of so many of his contemporaries. Drawing on his own experience and his vast knowledge of trusted spiritual authors, he leads his readers into the various ways of prayer. After a few introductory chapters stressing the importance of prayer, Fr. Jerome takes us through the Our Father, the very prayer which the Lord himself left with us. Along the way, he tackles common difficulties such as distraction and detachment, thus providing valuable advice for all who seek to deepen their life of prayer, be they beginners or more advanced in the spiritual life. Building on the insights of Pope Benedict’s Jesus of Nazareth, the author provides an account of prayer that is easy to read, accessible, and clearly centered on Jesus Christ and the Church.

Praying to a French God Book PDF/Epub Download
As a phenomenologist Lacoste is concerned with investigating the human aptitude for experience; as a theologian Lacoste is interested in humanity’s potential for a relationship with the divine, what he terms the ’liturgical relationship’. Beginning from the proposition that prayer is a theme that occurs throughout Lacoste’s writing, and using this proposition as a heuristic through which to view, interpret and critique his thought, this book examines Lacoste’s place amid both the recent ’theological turn’ in French thought and the post-war emergence of la nouvelle théologie. Drawing upon unpublished and out of print material previously only available in French, Romanian or German, the book will be of interest to scholars of philosophy, phenomenology and theology.
The Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola Book PDF/Epub Download
These Spiritual Exercises were written by Ignatius of Loyola, a theologian, priest and founder of the Society of Jesus, in the sixteenth century. They are Catholic prayers, reflections, meditations, mental exercises and directions designed to be read and carried out over a 28 to 30 day time period. These exercises are for Catholics and non-Catholics alike and grew out of Ignatius’ own desire to seek God’s will and to follow Christ no matter what the cost. Ignatius’ intent was that the exercises would help others to discern God’s will and to set the world on fire for Christ!

Through the Year with Newman Book PDF/Epub Download
John Henry Newman was a great thinker - a seminal theologian and philosopher - but he possessed something more than intellectual brilliance: he possessed wisdom and a profound devotional life. He brought to any practical topic an awareness of the unity and consistency of the Christian faith. His writings are shot through with insights that get to the very core of what Christianity means. Who better to take as a spiritual guide? Through the Year with Newman is a collection of reflections and prayers - one for every day of the year. It focuses on core Christian doctrines as presented with piercing clarity by Newman. It concentrates less on controversial issues than on matters of faith common to all Christians; but it also gets across the essence of the distinctive achievement of Newman, a sense of his central ideas and of the complexion of his thought.

St. Ignatius of Loyola was a man without any great pretensions to education at the time he wrote this book. His native language was not Spanish, but Basque. His lack of education and his imperfect acquaintance with pure Spanish are enough to make it clear that a refined use of any language, and more especially of the Spanish, or, in general, anything like a finished or even perfectly correct, style is not to be expected in his work. Literary defects he removed to some extent, perhaps, as he continued to use and apply the book, but he is known never to have been fearful of such faults. His corrections found in this text are clearly made with a view to precision more than to anything else. Aeterna Press
