Nineteen Eighty Four Book PDF/Epub Download

"Nineteen Eighty-Four: A Novel", often published as "1984", is a dystopian social science fiction novel by English novelist George Orwell. It was published on 8 June 1949 by Secker & Warburg as Orwell's ninth and final book completed in his lifetime. Thematically, "Nineteen Eighty-Four" centres on the consequences of totalitarianism, mass surveillance, and repressive regimentation of persons and behaviours within society. Orwell, himself a democratic socialist, modelled the authoritarian government in the novel after Stalinist Russia. More broadly, the novel examines the role of truth and facts within politics and the ways in which they are manipulated. The story takes place in an imagined future, the year 1984, when much of the world has fallen victim to perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, historical negationism, and propaganda. Great Britain, known as Airstrip One, has become a province of a totalitarian superstate named Oceania that is ruled by the Party who employ the Thought Police to persecute individuality and independent thinking. Big Brother, the leader of the Party, enjoys an intense cult of personality despite the fact that he may not even exist. The protagonist, Winston Smith, is a diligent and skillful rank-and-file worker and Outer Party member who secretly hates the Party and dreams of rebellion. He enters into a forbidden relationship with a colleague, Julia, and starts to remember what life was like before the Party came to power.

A Study in Darkness Book PDF/Epub Download

When a bomb goes off at 221B Baker Street, Evelina Cooper is thrown into her uncle Sherlock’s world of mystery and murder. But just when she thought it was safe to return to the ballroom, old, new, and even dead enemies are clamoring for a place on her dance card. Before Evelina’s even unpacked her gowns for a country house party, an indiscretion puts her in the power of the ruthless Gold King, who recruits her as his spy. He knows her disreputable past and exiles her to the rank alleyways of Whitechapel with orders to unmask his foe. As danger mounts, Evelina struggles between hiding her illegal magic and succumbing to the darker aspects of her power. One path keeps her secure; the other keeps her alive. For rebellion is brewing, a sorcerer wants her soul, and no one can protect her in the hunting grounds of Jack the Ripper. Praise for Emma Jane Holloway’s A Study in Silks “This book has just about everything: magic, machines, mystery, mayhem, and all the danger one expects when people’s loves and fears collide. I can’t wait to return to the world of Evelina Cooper!”—Kevin Hearne, New York Times bestselling author of The Iron Druid Chronicles “As Sherlock Holmes’s niece, investigating murder while navigating the complicated shoals of Society—and romance—in an alternate Victorian England, Evelina Cooper is a charming addition to the canon.”—Jacqueline Carey, New York Times bestselling author of the Kushiel’s Legacy series “Holloway takes us for quite a ride, as her plot snakes through an alternate Victorian England full of intrigue, romance, murder, and tiny sandwiches. Full of both thrills and frills.”—Nicole Peeler, author of the Jane True series “A Study in Silks is a charming, adventurous ride with a heroine who is both clever and talented. The brushes with the Sherlock Holmes mythos only add to the fun of this tale, and readers are bound to fall in love with Evelina and the London she inhabits.”—Philippa Ballantine, author of Geist “In A Study in Silks, Emma Jane Holloway has created a wonderful reimagining of the Sherlock Holmes mythos set in a late-Victorian Britain ruled by nefarious industrial titans called steam barons. Holloway’s clever writing, attention to detail, and sublime characters forge a fascinating world that combines brass-plated steampunk technology with magic. By turns a coming-of-age story, a gas-lamp thriller, and a whimsical magical fantasy, A Study in Silks is the premiere novel of an author to watch.”—Susan Griffith, author of the Vampire Empire series “Holloway stuffs her adventure with an abundance of characters and ideas and fills her heroine with talents and graces, all within a fun, brisk narrative.”—Publishers Weekly “Splendid . . . The characters are thoroughly charming and the worldbuilding is first-rate.”—RT Book Reviews (four stars)

Darkness Take My Hand Book PDF/Epub Download

Master of new noir Dennis Lehane magnificently evokes the dignity and savagery of working-class Boston in Darkness, Take My Hand, a terrifying tale of redemption. Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro’s latest client is a prominent Boston psychiatrist, running scared from a vengeful Irish mob. The private investigators know about cold-blooded retribution. Born and bred on the mean streets of blue-collar Dorchester, they’ve seen the darkness that lives in the hearts of the unfortunate. But an evil for which even they are unprepared is about to strike, as secrets that have long lain dormant erupt, setting off a chain of violent murders that will stain everything – including the truth. With razor-sharp dialogue and penetrating prose, Darkness, Take My Hand is another superior crime novel from the author of Mystic River; Gone, Baby, Gone; and Shutter Island.

Emerald Tablets Book PDF/Epub Download

Dear Reader,The Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean has been a book of awe and won- der for decades. Dr. Doreal, the founder of the Brotherhood Of the White Temple was authorized by the Great White Lodge to retrieve the Emerald Tablets from the Great Pyramid in the jungles of South America. As he journeyed through the jun- gles, he endured many hardships, which are described in this book. The purpose, of course, was to bring to humankind many truths about our connection to God and the Cosmos, which have been hidden from him for the last 50,000 years. The Emerald Tablets have become so popular in the field of metaphysics that, unfortunately, others in this country and abroad, are taking it upon themselves to write their own "translations" or "re-translate" the Tablets and are making money off of unsuspecting readers. Regardless of what these self-appointed transla- tors may say, absolutely NO ONE but Dr. Doreal was ever given permission by the Great White Lodge or the Brotherhood Of the White Temple to translate or reinterpret the Emerald Tablets. (Dr. Pedro Gonzales Milan, from Yucatan, Mex- ico was, however, commissioned by Dr. Doreal himself in the 1930s to translate Dr. Doreal's translation into Spanish. We do, therefore, have this book in Spanish, also.) Other than Dr. Milan, absolutely NO ONE has ever been given permission, authorized, or commissioned to do such work.Anyone who studies metaphysics knows that when even one word of an author's writing is changed, the entire meaning is changed. It has always been a very strict policy of the Brotherhood's that not one word of Dr. Doreal's writings are to ever be changed or altered in any way, shape or form whatsoever. Also, as with every writing by any author, the odic force (or thought impres- sions) of the writer are imbued in the words and text of their writings. The thought impressions of the original (the Brotherhood's book) will be of those of Thoth, the writer, and Dr. Doreal, the translator. The writing of other "authors" will be im- bued with their own thought impressions, which will absolutely not be what Thoth or Dr. Doreal intended. It is the same old story as with the Bible. There have always been those whose egos and self-importance prompted them to change Bible texts for one reason or another and much of the truth that was originally conveyed became obscured and lost its true meaning.Woe to those who have taken such sacred texts as the Tablets and changed the truths therein, and benefitted for their own person gratification and profit, for the effects of what they have sown will surely find them. Greed for money, glory and power will bring to them the causes they themselves have created. For those who do wish to read or purchase a copy of the original, unchanged book which was translated by Dr. Doreal, you may place an order with the Broth- erhood. In Divine Love,Brotherhood Of the White Temple, Inc.
